KALEICI EVI
Kaleiçi House is situated on Hıdırlık Street, adjacent to the City Walls, and was registered as a Cultural Heritage Property in 1992.
Investigations have not uncovered the identities of the house's original owners. However, it is believed that Kaleiçi House and the neighboring residence functioned as a single structure at some point in history.

Based on traces from the structure, it is believed that the building originally functioned as a single entity with the adjacent structure, later being divided due to changing needs over time. The aim of the restoration was to address contemporary requirements while preserving the original main walls and elements without compromising their essence

Courtyards, from the Roman ages, have been an integral part of vernacular architecture. The internal courtyard in houses promotes ventilation, brings much-needed sunlight, and provides a way to connect the interior with the exterior. In traditional Turkish houses, the enclosed courtyard has long been a local architectural element. The area known as “Hayat” is generally inclusive and warm, in contrast to the more conservative street facade. In this restoration project, we aimed to transform a historical structure with modern touches while keeping these principles in mind.
